The “Resolution” Is A Revelation

I can’t believe that it’s been so long since I’ve updated our Caleb Zone blog.  This is for a number of reasons, but today’s the day when my “blog fast” ends.  And what has prompted  my re-upping on the blog?   How about one of the biggest impact resources I’ve seen in a long time.  It’s a book called “The Resolution For Men” by Stephen and Alex Kendrick, and Randy Alcorn. ( Not to be confused with The Hair Club For Men, in case you’re old enough to remember those TV ads.)  So let me tell you why I think The Resolution is so high impact.

Many of you saw the movie, Courageous, which came out a few years ago.  It’s about a group of police officers who decide to take God’s Word seriously…for their sakes, the sake of their families, and the sake of their churches.  They write up this resolution which they agree to stick to for the rest of their lives, basically committing themselves to follow and obey Jesus, thus breaking the wordly and sinful patterns they see in themselves, and becoming men of integrity and godliness.  Of course, they realize that keeping this resolution is impossible without Jesus living it out through them, and without their commitment to hold one another accountable.

So, what do you think so far?  You’ve read lots of stuff like this, right?  It sounds heavy and legalistic, right?  Well, that’s pretty much why I didn’t read it until just recently…it just didn’t appeal to me.  But what I didn’t know was that it was actually REALLY  life-giving.  It challenged me to be more intentional about growing into the man of God, the father, the husband, and the disciple-maker which God has always intended for me to be.  It called me forward in a challenging, yet encouraging way.  And as I read it I realized that it could make an incredible discipleship tool

By the way, there is also a “Resolution For Women”, which I’ve not read (of course), but I’ve heard its really good, too.

So bottom line here…if you’d like a real revelation of what God’s desire is for us to be men of integrity, read The Resolution.  Actually, we have it in our church bookstore, or you can get it at Mardel or Barnes & Noble.  Check it out guys.

Blessings, and remember…never stop growing.
